Matthew 7:21-23

You know, as I go about my daily living I notice a lot of things. One of the biggest and most apparent things is that there are so many people who like to lump themselves under the title: “Christian”. They obviously have no idea what the term actually means. (Christ like) I do my best to refrain from ANY news source, and spend little time on social media anymore. But, I notice this in people that I come into contact with on a daily basis. People who will stick themselves under the title (sometimes with reservation as well), in whom I know there is no way they possess the Holy Spirit. You say: “you shouldn’t judge”, well, go back and look at those particular verses in proper context and come back and we’ll talk. My Bible tells me that I can know a brother or sister by the fruit they bear, and that our spirits will bear witness of one another. (This is all verse 21 btw)

Verse 22 is where the meat is. “Many” will say to me in that day – many. I know a lot of people who profess Christ to be the Son of God, God’s Son, etc. But, that isn’t where its at! The devils even know this, and will profess it! But yet, “many” may actually be doing some good “works”. Attending/helping around the church, tithing, being charitable and what not. Folks, these will NOT get you to Heaven! Christ even said there would be many who would even prophesy in His name. In other words, speaking good of Him, telling of His return to gather up His Bride and what not. “Doing” all sorts of works. Many churches are built upon this, which is one of the scariest things of all!

But, verse 23 is the most condemning Passage in all the Word of God in my opinion. After all these people have “said and done” all these great things, they will hear the most horrifying words imaginable – “depart from me, for I never knew you”.

Simple question today – do you TRULY know Christ? As your Savior? Or, just someone who you occasionally put on when its convenient for conversation, or simply to help you feel better about yourself? People, I urge you, PLEASE seek Him as Lord of your life. Knowing “of” Christ is not the same as knowing Christ. Be sure of your Salvation – today! Try reading the Book of 1 John and if you’re not sure, make it sure. Before the Lord truly convicted me of my sin almost 20 years ago, I fit into the verse 22 category like a glove. Please, don’t make the same mistake I did. Don’t just “profess”, POSSESS!!!!
